International Medical Corps is a global first responder that delivers emergency healthcare and related services to communities affected by disaster, disease or conflict, no matter where they are, no matter what the conditions. We also train people in their communities, providing them with the skills they need to recover, chart their own path to self-reliance and become effective first responders themselves. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps has operated in more than 80 countries and provided more than $3 billion in emergency relief, training and supplies to communities in crisis. Today, our 7,000 staff members—more than 90% of whom are locally hired— deliver services in some 30 countries worldwide. In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, International Medical Corps is providing training on infection prevention and control, procuring supplies and helping health systems prepare for and respond to this outbreak.
